11:27pm, 6 April 2006 Washington, District of Columbia

Luke sat in his car just down Massachusetts Avenue from the Cosmos Club. The party was just breaking up, valets bringing cars around in a steady stream.

It wasn't too long before the sandy-haired man walked out, a grey-haired lady on his arm. Luke sat up and craned his neck for a better look.

Sure enough, that was him, dressed to the nines, and laughing gaily. Luke longed to pull the shotgun out of the trunk and blow them all away, but that would be a bit too obvious.

Luke looked closer at the woman the sandy-haired man was seeing to the curb. Ah yes, of course. Senator Thomas.

It all made sense now.

Luke started the car and roared off up Massachusetts.


8:02pm, 7 April 2006 Washington, District of Columbia

Luke was quite surprised that the Hart Senate Office Building had such terrible security. Not even all the metal in his pockets set off the detector. The Senator's house was more secure.

But not much more, Luke chuckled to himself.
