Gunfire and Blood in Bronstein Park, a Missing Woman, Prompt New Worries for Manchester Police

Reports of gun shots, blood stained snow, and the report of a missing Manchester woman have officials scrambling for answers in a 3 week long string of violence in the city. Police were called to Bronstein Park Tuesday night, after reports from area residents and found evidence of a gun battle. The blood found at the scene indicates that there were injuries and that they may have been severe. A spokesman for the department indicated that no one who might have been wounded in the incident were reported at local medical facilities, and no witnesses have come forward with details.

Complicating matters for police is the possibility that a Manchester woman may have been in the area of the park at the time. Barbara Miller, of Maple Street, was reported missing by her mother after she didn't return home after a walk. Police was not willing to comment on the possible relation of the disappearance to the violence, but conceded that Miller might have been in the park at the time.

Investigators have been frustrated repeatedly by outbreaks of violence in the city since the Thanksgiving holiday. When asked to comment on the possibility of the incidents being related, they refuse to comment beyond saying that investigations are ongoing and to confirm the cooperation from the State Police and the FBI in the continuing search for answers.
