James Whitmore

Appearance

James stands an imposing 6'2" tall, with a heavily-muscled build to match. His hair is a mostly-unkempt mop of brown wavy hair, and dark blue eyes peer out from under his bangs. His face and arms, once horrifically burned and scarred, now seem to have been healed so well, there is simply no trace on him that they had ever been harmed. In fact, now that you mention it, all his exposed skin has taken on a lighter, deathly pallor to it, verging on almost ivory in appearance.

He wears a pair of well-broken-in bluejeans, with a pair of newish Nike court shoes on his feet. Over a light blue button-down shirt he has on a heavy trenchcoat, which appears to have a couple powder burn marks on the left shoulder and a large cut across the chest, which has been sewn back together with yellow thread. Around his neck, beneath the trenchcoat, a three-inch gold cross hangs from a gilded chain.

Anyone watching James for more than a few moments will begin to get the emotional and mental feeling that there is something more about him, and most individuals will remember seeing him, even if they forget other facets of the place/scene he was in.

Demeanor

Over the years, James has slowly become single-mindedly attached to his work, as one by one he has lost everything else in his life. He sees himself as a holy warrior of God Almighty, and his past successes only serve to strengthen his belief that this is what the One meant for him to do. He knows of the existence of shifters, but has not spent enough time on them to even form an opinion-he stays out of their way, and so far, none have gotten in his. He considers /all/ vampires evil and cursed by the mark of Caine, but has educated himself enough to know that the Sabbat are the worst of them, and also that VERY infrequently, someone will end up being innocently embraced against their will-Unfortunately, the only way to save their soul from that curse...is to destroy the cursed body so that the soul may still continue to Heaven.

Background

James Whitmore was born as Robert Andrews in a small southern parochial town to a Catholic minister and his wife. Brainwashed at an early age to accept the Bible and God's Word as the only path to salvation, an incident at age 17 with a particularly arrogant Anarch rudely shoved him into the world of the supernatural, and he was quickly picked up by the Order of Leopold when he exhibited a desire to destroy what was obviously Satan's creation.

Word from Kindred society places James at only two cities so far?Pittsburgh and Chicago?but his accomplishments in those two cities have more than made up for his dislike of flying. In Pittsburgh he cut down a Gangrel Ancillae with what was described as a 'glowing green knife', destroying the vampire and turning him to ash in seconds. Two days after that, evading an inquiry by the police that strangely died out, a massive explosion gutted out and destroyed the main Camarilla Elysium at the time, an underground dance club/art gallery appropriately named The Underground. Two Primogen and eight other kindred suffered the Final Death that night in the explosion and ensuing fire.

James disappeared from public eye for about a year or two after that, finally surfacing in Chicago, drawn by the Sabbat's overt actions and gigantic Masquerade breaches at the time. (Angels being seen in public, individuals ripping people's arms out of their sockets on dance floors, and so on, were events making the newspapers at the time). Several attempts were made by a local Pack Priest to kill him, but alarmingly he was easily repelled with James only taking minor cuts and one bullet in the shoulder.

After slaying two members of the local Sabbat pack and an Ancient Nosferatu Elder (Pritvoritz, 1200 years old), James appeared to take an interest in the local Camarilla's activity?his recent presence in Germany at the same location Fursa and Jason had visited leads most informed Kindred to believe he is specifically hunting Jason McClintoch, and has followed him to New Hampshire.

Alarmingly, James has apparently become even more powerful in recent years, and some younger Kindred are outright terrified of what they have seen him do. Rumors abound that he can drive Kindred from his presence merely by thought, no longer requiring the crutch of holy symbol, and that even Kindred he is not aware of find it incredibly difficult to approach him or act against him unless their motives are friendly. In addition, several of the more mentally-inclined disciplines no longer seem to affect him (Dominate, Presence, some Thaumaturgical Paths). (For those with the book, James has an effective Reputation of 5 and is listed now on the Justicar's List as an Enemy of the Camarilla, considered extremely dangerous. Any Kindred revealing their nature or presence to James is under a Camarilla-wide Blood Hunt).
