Presidential candidates vie for Evangelical vote in Brazil

INSIDE THE AMERICAS © FRANCE 24 As Brazil prepares for the first round of presidential elections in October, we take a closer look at the importance of the Evangelical Christian vote. Four years ago, the vast majority of that electorate supported Jair Bolsonaro, but today their loyalties are wavering. Our correspondents Fanny Lothaire, Louise Raulais, Julia Courtois and Perrine Juan report.

Meanwhile, in the United States, a group of migrants who were flown to the chic east coast island of Martha’s Vineyard are suing the Republican governor of Florida for sending them there. Republicans accuse the Biden administration of turning the border with Mexico into a sieve and are trying to place immigration at the centre of the midterm election campaign. We take a closer look.

Finally, we meet the so-called digital nomads in Mexico City. These high-earning expats from North America and Europe are disrupting the local economy and leading to the gentrification of the Mexican capital. FRANCE 24’s Quentin Duval reports.
